البريطاني يقرأ بين 40 و 50 كتاباً في السنة.
• الأوروبي والأمريكي يقرأ ما بين 25 إلى 35 كتاباً في السنة .
• السنغالي يقرأ 3 كتب في السنة .
• كل 80 عربي يقرؤون كتاباً واحداً في السنة !!!!
• عدد لغات العالم حالياً يتراوح بين 6000 و 7000 لغة ، نصفها مهدد بالانقراض ، و 90% منها سنقرض خلال القرن الحالي.
• اللغة العربية هي اللغة الثانية في فرنسا ، ولكنها ما زالت هامشية في صفوف الدرجة الأولى المدرسية ، وما زالت الإنجليزية تحظى بالإقبال الأكبر تليها الألمانية ثم الأسبانية ، ثم الإيطالية ، وأخيراً العربية !!!
• حددت منظمة اليونسكو يوم 21 فبراير للاحتفال باليوم العالمي للغة الأم.

لقد استطاعت بعض الكلمات الإغريقية أن تصل إلى الفرنسية عن طريق عربية العصور الوسطى، ويدل على ذلك كلمة estragon أصلها بالفرنسية هو المصطلح النباتي الإغريقي
كما نقول بالعربية راوند : هو اسم نبات

Origin, History, and Mythology: Tarragon is said to originate in Siberia and was introduced into Europe and the Mediterranean by the Tudor family in the late 1500s for use as an ornamental in their royal gardens. It was introduced into the United States in the early 1800s.
The name "tarragon" is a corruption of either the French word estragon or the Arabic word "tarkhum" - each mean "little dragon." It was used by ancient Greeks for its medicinal properties.

The most widely used variety of tarragon comes from France. The French generic name for tarragon (Artemisia) stems from the Greek "Artemis" - goddess of the moon - due to the soft, silvery color of its leaves, as if they are bathed in "moon beams."

Ancient Greeks used tarragon to ameliorate tooth ache. During the Middle Ages, one school of medical thought believed that tarragon was a cure for snake bites due to its serpentine shaped roots; an opposing group believed that the root shape resembled dragons - note the use of dracunculus (dragon) in its latin name - and that tarragon was a cure for bites from venomous beasts.

The French call tarragon the "King of Herbs" and base many of their sauces - such as béarnaise and ravigote - on the use of tarragon as the major flavoring agent.
