مكافحة جرائم الإنترنت

Hello and welcome to BBC Xtra English!
Today we are talking about cyber crime.
Experts have been meeting in London this week to discuss how to combat cyber crime and how there is an increasing number of criminals getting involved in it.
There has also been an overlap between the work of international criminals and computer hackers, many of whom are teenagers using their computers at home.
Charlie McMurdy who runs the Police Central e-crime unit told the BBC that now criminals can meet online and don’t need to physically meet in order to plan crime.
According to computer security company Symantec there are 9 new unique threats detected every second in cyber space.
One of the ways in which criminals are using the internet is through ‘botnets’.
This allows the home computers of innocent users to be controlled remotely and used for malicious purposes.
To combat this, the UK government is planning to spend 650 Million pounds on improving cyber security.
John Bassett, a security analyst based in London said that whilst there are lots of questions surrounding how that money can be spent, the cornerstone of good cyber security has to be based on education.
