An Excursion in the Sea
Translated by : Qahtan F. AL-Khatib
Air moderated at the end of the day. The heat vehemence abated. The sun leaned towards the sunset. The physician, ( Waleed Alhaj Shalan ), went out to the balcony so as to entertain himself by the sea scene and its blueness, to smell the sweet breeze, enjoying the yellow evening twilight as it is fading away step by step into the sea. He was delighted by this marvelous scene calling his wife, his sons; Khalid, Ali and his daughter, Selma, to enter partnership with him in his enjoyment. They responded to his invitation in a hurry and went up to him in the balcony to enjoy with him the lovely Divine scene before missing the opportunity. Having seen him, they were delighted in the same way as he was.
-”What a lovely horizon scene it is !”, exclaimed (Selma). (Khalid) cried;
- “How beautiful promenading in the sea right now is !” He hastened to his father and was attached to him kissing him and winning his affection of sloping with them by the special boat. (Selma) supported him. Mother laughed as if she were showing her desire in the promenade, as well. The husband smiled to his sons and to their mother. He was glad his dear family keeping company. He sloped with them to the place where the boat anchored. They moved downwards to it. The mother sat at the beginning whereas (Khalid, Selma and Ali) sat in the middle. But the head of the family sat to steer the boat. He moved in the middle of the waves and the refreshing drizzle flying up and down. (Khalid) saw a lot of boats looming in the offing as if they were a fleet marching towards a battle. (Selma) heard folk songs of good voice and soft tunes. He saw people playing on the sea shore, others were setting on fire so as to roast fish. The doctor (Waleed) leaned the boat towards the shore and stopped near the anchorage. All of them got out of the boat. Mother prepared the food. They ate and it might have given them pleasure and it might also have done them good. Then they returned home by boat for the purpose of preparing their homework for the following day after this interesting sea excursion.
